JUNCTION CITY, WI (WSAU) — A Junction City man has died in a crash between a train and a lawn tractor.
According to a news release from Sheriff Mike Lukas 78-year-old James Pierson was riding a John Deer lawn tractor near the railroad tracks at the intersection of Main Street and Center Avenue.
Pierson suffered undisclosed injuries and was taken to a local hospital. He later died from those injuries.
Further details about the collision haven’t been released. The incident remains under investigation.
The Portage County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Fire Departments from Stevens Point and Rudolph, Railroad Police, Portage County EMS, and the Portage County Medical Examiner’s Office.
