Milwaukee Bucks
MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Bucks are one of three teams that NBA insiders have heard are interested in trading up in next week’s NBA Draft.
As reported by Sam Vecenie of The Athletic, the Cleveland Cavaliers, Phoenix Suns, and Milwaukee Bucks have all “explored potential opportunities to move up into the late 20s and 30s due to the depth of prospects on the wing and potential NBA-ready, older rotation players.”
Khris Middleton, who has a $40.4 million player option for next season, and Brook Lopez, could earn a hefty price in free agency. If both players sign new contracts with the Bucks, the front office’s best option for bringing in talent to complement its core players could be through the draft.
Milwaukee has also been rumored to be a team possibly interested in trading for Bradley Beal but at this point, Beal has not signaled if he would waive his no-trade clause to play in Milwaukee. The Miami Heat are also expected to aggressively pursue a trade for Beal.
If the Bucks were to trade up into the 1st round of the draft they would likely be targeting a young guard who can backup Jrue Holiday and provide scoring off the bench. Players like Arkansas point guard Nick Smith and Michigan shooting guard Kobe Bufkin could be players possibly on Milwaukee’s radar.
The Bucks currently own only one pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, which is the final pick at 60th overall.
