MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – According to reports, the two teams most keen on pursuing a trade for Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal are predicted to be the Milwaukee Bucks and Miami Heat.
ESPN NBA insider Brian Windhorst spoke about the rumors on Thursday morning during a segment on Get Up saying, ” Two teams I want to mention that I think are in the forefront right now. The Miami Heat—and this is a surprise, but this is what I’ve been told—and the Milwaukee Bucks. Two teams that I think that are showing interest. There are other teams on the periphery, but the two teams I think at the forefront—Miami and Milwaukee.”
Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported on Wednesday that if the Wizard’s front management decides to pursue a rebuild, they want to work with Beal on potential trade possibilities.
Just last year, Beal and Washington agreed to a five-year, $251.02 million contract extension, and as part of that agreement, Beal became the only NBA player with a no-trade provision.
When the 2023–24 NBA season starts, Beal, who will be 30 years old, was one of the league’s top scorers, averaging 30.5 points per game in 2019–20 and a career-high 31.3 points per game the next year.
Given that he has missed a total of 74 games over the last two seasons and hasn’t played in more than 60 games in a season since appearing in all 82 games in both 2017–18 and 2018–19, Beal’s durability may be the biggest cause for concern.
With Khris Middleton having a player option for next season and center Brook Lopez set to become a free agent this offseason, Milwaukee could potentially part ways with one or both of them and sign Beal to join Giannis, Jrue Holiday, creating one of the top big three’s in the NBA.
