MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Milwaukee Bucks won’t be making any major changes after re-signing Khris Middleton to a three-year, $102 million contract.
Earlier this month, Middleton turned down his $40.4 million player option. The decision wasn’t shocking due to his looking to sign a substantial long-term contract.
On June 15, Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports reported that the Bucks were “by all accounts” interested in keeping both Middleton and unrestricted free agent Brook Lopez. According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, on June 18 the league as a whole anticipated that Middleton would get a new deal of around $130 million over four years.
Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN also reported that former Bucks guard Jevon Carter has signed a three-year, $20 million contract with the Chicago Bulls.
Midway through the 2022–23 season, Carter passed George Hill in the Milwaukee Bucks’ depth chart and eventually became Jrue Holiday’s backup.
Carter averaged 8.0 points, 2.4 assists, and 42.1 percent from outside the arc throughout 81 games. His greatest game as a Buck came when he scored 36 points along with 12 assists in a 136-132 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder in November.
With Middleton officially returning to Milwaukee, the Bucks will now focus on re-signing Brook Lopez. According to NBA insider Marc Stein, Lopez is increasingly likely to return to the Milwaukee Bucks.
