MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Bucks continue to prioritize keeping their core together by bringing back scorer Khris Middleton and now center Brook Lopez.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, Lopez reached an agreement on Saturday on a new two-year, $48 million contract with the Milwaukee Bucks.
“I love it here,” Lopez told Michael Scotto of HoopsHype in January. “I’m so thankful for the opportunity the Bucks gave me five years ago to come here and be a part of something special. We had a great time. I can’t imagine being anywhere else.”
Lopez is coming off yet another strong season in which he averaged 15.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game while shooting 37.4% from three-point range and 53.1% from the field.
Keeping Lopez and Middleton was a priority for the Bucks after their early playoff exit to the Miami Heat. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Milwaukee Bucks agreed to a three-year, $102 million contract with Khris Middleton shortly after free agency began on Friday night.
The Bucks will now turn their attention to potentially bringing in veteran role players to provide consistent scoring off the bench, such as Jae Crowder, who is “expected to return to Milwaukee after the Bucks traded five second-round picks to acquire the veteran forward at the trade deadline,” according to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports.
