MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Bucks are adding some depth to their bench by signing veterans Malik Beasley and Robin Lopez.
According to various sources, Beasley agreed to a one-year minimum contract with the Bucks. Last month, the Los Angeles Lakers decided not to exercise Malik Beasley’s $16.5 million option for the 2023–24 season. In 26 regular season appearances (14 starts), Beasley averaged 11.1 points per game while shooting 35.3 percent from the floor.
Beasley has earned a reputation for being a reliable scorer off the bench. He has a career three-point shooting percentage of 37.8 percent and showed flashes of good play for the Lakers last season. Many believe Beasley will be a good addition to Milwaukee and the kind of role player the team needed.
Milwaukee also made a move to strengthen their frontcourt on Monday by bringing Robin Lopez back. According to The Athletic, Lopez’s deal is also a one-year minimum contract.
As a rotational big during the 2019–20 season, he played in 66 games (five starts) for Milwaukee. He averaged 5.4 points per game and added 2.7 rebounds.
Because Serge Ibaka and Meyers Leonard will not be returning in 2023, the Bucks needed another veteran big man in the rotation. Lopez played with the Cleveland Cavaliers last season but missed time due to mid-season back surgery.
