MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — Milwaukee’s offense did not waste a strong start from Corbin Burnes in a 7-3 win over the Cincinnati Reds.
Burnes threw six innings and allowed three hits, two earned runs, and four walks. He also recorded six strikeouts.
A trio of relievers finished the game out including closer Devin Williams, who came on with one out in the bottom of the 9th as the Reds were threatening. He closed the game out with a walk and two strikeouts to snuff the rally and earn his 19th save of the season.
Four batters recorded multiple hits in the game led by Owen Miller who was 3-4 with an RBI and a walk. Willy Adames went 2-5 with two runs scored and three RBI. Two of those came off a home run in the 5th inning.
Center fielder Joey Wiemer also recorded a two-run homer in the second inning, part of a 2-4 day at the plate.
Milwaukee pounded out 14 hits on the night. Cincinnati managed just four.
The same two teams will play this evening at American Family Field. Pregame coverage starts at 6:35 on WSAU.
