MADISON, WI (WSAU) – The Wisconsin Badgers are adding more defensive line depth to their 2024 recruiting class.
Three-star defensive lineman Dillan Johnson announced his commitment to the Badgers on Twitter on Wednesday after previously committing to Northwestern earlier this year.
Johnson de-committed from Northwestern following the hazing scandal involving former coach Pat Fitzgerald and spoke about his decision with 24/7 Sports saying, “Well – it’s disappointing and leaves me in disbelief. There are former teammates I have there and I don’t like what they are going through. I wish everyone the best. I am de-committing.”
He also spoke about starting a new chapter with Wisconsin saying, “I’ve always liked Wisconsin. That’s why this was such a natural choice. Coach Fick and Hitsch are wrestlers and of course, Coach Fick has been in my situation. Coach Scruggs has played at every level and will make me better. Coach Bono and Reader are excellent, the school is close, the Big Ten, solid academics and we will win.”
Johnson will wrestle in addition to being on a football scholarship at Wisconsin. Early in June, Johnson came to Madison for an official visit.
He is currently rated as a three-star talent by 24/7 Sports and is ranked as Illinois’ No. 19 rising senior.
