CINCINNATI, OH (WSAU) — Brewers pitching combined for a two-hitter as Milwaukee climbed back into a first-place tie with a 1-0 win over the Reds to open the ceremonial second half of the baseball season on Friday.
Victor Cariatini recorded an RBI single in the 7th to score Willy Adames. William Contreras went 2-4 on the day, with those two accounting for half of Milwaukee’s six hits on the night.
Corbin Burnes went six innings and allowed two hits to earn the win on the bump. A trio of relievers then held the Reds hitless the rest of the way, capped off by Devin Williams’ 21st save of the season.
TJ Friedl and Will Benson each recorded a hit for Cincinnati in the loss.
Both clubs now stand at 50-42 on the season. They’ll go at it again tonight at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati. First pitch is at 6:10 with pregame at 5:35 on WSAU.
