Village leaders in Weston will meet to discuss a potential water rate increase Monday afternoon.
According to the Finance Committee agenda, they’re looking for a simplified rate increase of about 8%, or about $4.65 per quarter for the average user.
Simplified rate increases allow water utilities to apply a small increase to their bills to keep up with inflationary costs and “maintain revenue continuity,” according to the Public Service Commission website. Utilities that meet specific criteria qualify for a simplified rate increase, which can be completed in as little as a month.
If approved by the PSC, the increase would go into effect on October 15th. See more about the proposal as part of Monday’s agenda packet by clicking here. That meeting will be held at the new Municipal Center beginning at 4:15 PM
Also on Monday Town Supervisors in Rib Mountain will meet to begin finalizing plans for their transition into a Village. That includes plans for how many Village Trustees would serve on their board along with a Village President and a transition plan for community identification.
This comes after voters overwhelmingly approved a referendum last week finalizing the town’s incorporation as a Village, ending decades of informal discussion on the topic and about two years of formal petitioning and planning.
