WASHINGTON DC (WSAU) – At the Turning Point Action Conference in West Palm Beach, Florida, a fresh GOP primary straw poll from 2024 revealed overwhelming support for former President Donald Trump’s re-election.
According to The Post Millennial, Trump was chosen as the top candidate in the current GOP primary field by 85.7% of those who participated in the Trafalgar group survey at the event.
When asked to select a second favorite candidate, tech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy received the most votes (51.2%).
Ron DeSantis, governor of Florida, polled at only 4.3 percent of the vote, coming in third in first-choice votes and third in second-choice votes with 13.5% during the event.
In a separate question about potential US vice presidents, former Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake received 30.8 percent of the vote, followed by Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), 24 percent, and Vivek Ramaswamy, 22.7 percent.
According to Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point Action, “President Trump remains the single most dominant force among the conservative grassroots,” he also states that the former President’s legal issues have “seemingly made him even stronger and more popular among the conservative faithful.”
A recent Redfield and Wilton Strategies poll shows Trump and Biden would be tied at 43% if the general election were held today. The most recent RealClear Politics polling averages also show this trend after three of the most recent polls from YouGov and Messenger ended in a dead heat between Trump and Biden.
