MERRILL, WI (WSAU) — Cleanup is underway across the Northwoods after a line of strong storms brought down trees and power lines overnight.
City leaders in Merrill have announced that they will be adding brush pickup to their schedule for the week of July 31st to August 3rd. Residents are asked to move their branches and debris to the curb with the butt ends facing the street if they’d like to participate.
Debris also blocked two Lincoln County highways on Tuesday. Wisconsin 107 near Eggert Drive was closed due to branches, and US 51 near Lincoln Drive was closed due to a utility emergency. Both areas have since re-opened.
Wisconsin Public Service reported numerous power outages overnight. As of 10 AM, there are still about 1,000 customers waiting for their lights to come back on, including scattered outages in Wausau, Rothschild, and Rib Mountain.
