Wausau’s Economic Development and Finance Committees are set to meet in a joint closed session Tuesday evening to discuss the purchase of two properties including the former Marathon Box and Wausau Homes buildings on Cherry Street.
According to Tuesday’s agenda packet, the current owner is asking for $997,000 for the land or about $3.50 per square foot. The owner notes that the buildings are being sold as-is, and they come in “various conditions.”
The committees will come out of closed session to take action as appropriate.
The economic development committee will also get an update on The River, a proposed concert venue. Economic Development Director Liz Brodeck noted last month that the developers were in the process of selecting a consultant to help complete a feasibility study for the venue. That was requested by the committee earlier this summer after the idea was announced.
An updated development agreement for the Foundry on 3rd, featuring an updated construction timeline, will also be considered.
