MADISON, WI (WSAU) – The Wisconsin Badgers have received a commitment from highly touted Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage defensive back Xavier Lucas.
“They really want me there,” Lucas told Badgers 24/7. “They think it’s a great fit for me. They know my drive, what I want to do, and what I look for in colleges. Not just a football standpoint, but academics as well.”
The three-star prospect held scholarship offers from Wisconsin, Florida State, Illinois, and Rutgers. Shortly after committing to Wisconsin, he said, “I decided on Sunday. I like what they have going on and it would be great to be a part of it.”

Lucas stated that he was impressed with the city saying, “It’s not what I expected…in a good way,” Lucas told Badger247 in June. “Once I got into the city, everything was pretty cool. They were very welcoming. They showed a lot of love. I got to hang out with a few of the players.
According to 24/7 Sports, Lucas is the nation’s No. 82 ranked safety in the class of 2024. However, Lucas told Rivals that the Badgers intend for him to move to cornerback once he officially arrives in Madison.
