CINCINNATI, OH (WSAU) — Jordan Love was efficient in his first preseason start and Sean Clifford overcame a pick-six as the Green Bay Packers topped the Cincinnati Bengals 36-19 in the first of three preseason contests on Friday.
Love started the game and went two drives, finishing 7/10 for 46 yards and one touchdown. That included a 43-yard touchdown drive in which Love went 5/6, throwing darts to all sides of the field before finishing the drive with a nine-yard touch pass to Romeo Doubs for the score.
Clifford finished 20/26 for 208 yards and one touchdown against two interceptions. His scoring toss went to TE Tyler Davis. Rookie Emanuel Wilson capped off the scoring with a pair of touchdown runs; one from 11 yards out and an electric 80-yard scamper in the fourth quarter.
Green Bay outgained Cincinnati 437 to 274 and picked up 21 first downs to just 12 for the Bengals. Despite those numbers, time of possession was a nearly 50-50 split with Green Bay holding the ball for 30:50.
Preseason game #2 for the Packers will be next Saturday, August 19th, at home against New England. Pregame coverage on WSAU will begin at 5 PM, with kickoff from Lambeau at 7:00.
