WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A 37-year-old Rothschild man faces three OWI charges for three incidents between May and August.
The most recent stems from a Thursday incident in which a State Patrol officer pulled over a vehicle driven for a littering violation. The driver, Mark Bryant Calmes, showed signs of impairment and failed a standard field sobriety test.
He was arrested on suspicion of OWI. Court records show he has two additional OWI cases against him as well, which were filed on May 5th and June 13th. He was released on a $500 signature bond after the first incident. The second involved a $2,000 signature bond.
In each of those cases, Calmes is facing a modifier for having children in the vehicle. The State Patrol says that was also the case in Thursday’s incident. Those children, ages five and eight, were released to another family member.
He is scheduled to return to court for a status conference on October 2nd for the May and June incidents, which have been rolled into one case. No court action has been scheduled for the latest incident as of Saturday.
