Milwaukee, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers earned another win over the Chicago White Sox yesterday with a comeback victory, beating Chicago 3-2. The game started at a slow pace for the Brewers, as they did not score until the 7th inning.
Chicago White Sox Yoán Moncado homered for the Sox but lost the 2-run lead in the 7th after the Brewers began to rally.
Milwaukee’s pitcher Brandon Woodruff allowed only 2 runs and 4 hits over the first 6 innings and helped Milwaukee maintain a 2 1/2 game lead for the NL Central. He struck out 6 and walked his final batter before retiring from the mound.
Woodruff has missed several months due to inflammation in his shoulder.
Reliever Devin Williams took to the mound and pitched the 9th, earning his 28th save in 31 chances.
The White Sox had their reliever Jesse Sholtens pitching over 6 scoreless innings until the momentum shifted in the 7th, and the Brewers came to life. Tyrone Taylor doubled in a pair to tie it and ended Sholtens streak, and his time on the mound. William Contreras capped a 3-run game-winning RBI off Chicago’s Bryan Shaw and brought home Taylor and gave the Milwaukee Brewers the lead.
The same two teams will play today in the series finale. Coverage on WSAU will start at 12:35 P.M for the 1:10 game.
