WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – Nearly three-quarters of Republican voters, according to a recent New York Times/Siena poll, think Donald Trump “has not committed serious federal crimes.”
According to the poll, 74% of Republican voters believe Trump has not committed any severe criminal offenses. In comparison, 86% of Democrats and 55% of independents thought the former president had done so.
57% of Republicans replied no when asked if Trump “did something wrong in his handling of classified documents.”
Women and younger voters, regardless of party, were more likely to believe Trump committed crimes, with 56% of females and 72% of those aged 18–29 believing so.
The poll also found that education also played a difference in whether a respondent thought Trump’s indictments were “serious,” with 66 percent of those with a college degree agreeing.
Two new polls from Quinnipiac and NPR/Marist show the race between former President Trump and President Biden is a dead heat. Quinnipiac found that Biden currently leads Trump by just one point, at 47% to 46%. Meanwhile, NPR/Marist found that President Biden leads Trump by the same margin of one point, at 47% to 46%.
