WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Wausau man facing his 6th OWI charge following a December 2021 crash near Kwik Trip in Rib Mountain will go to trial.
Brian Carl will face a 12-person jury on February 2nd, 2024, as scheduled by Judge Gregory Strasser this week. Carl is accused of driving drunk and crashing near a Kwik Trip in Rib Mountain.
The 52-year-old is said to have crashed his pickup into a ditch and left it there, returning a few minutes later with a group of people and a tarp strap to pull the vehicle out of the ditch.
Officers identified Carl as the driver and attempted field sobriety tests and a breath test, which showed his BAC to be .16, well above his legal limit of .02 due to prior convictions.
No additional court action between now and the trial is scheduled. He is free on an $800 bond.
Carl’s prior OWI charges date back to 1995.
