STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) – Congressman Derrick Van Orden announced on X on Tuesday that his eldest daughter, Sydney Marie Van Orden, has passed away after a year-long battle with cancer.
In a statement from the family, Van Orden stated, “We are heartbroken that we cannot share her smile and laugh in person any longer but are so thankful that she is resting with our Lord and that we were able to spend these years with her and her family.”
Rep. Derrick Van Orden also thanked everyone for the tender mercies shown toward his family in the statement. Sydney Marie is survived by her husband, Chris, and their three children.
