WASHINGTON DC (WSAU) – The Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has become the subject of an investigation by the House Judiciary Committee regarding her actions in connection with the indictment of former President Donald Trump.
According to a letter from House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan, the Republican-led committee is looking into whether Willis worked with the Department of Justice to charge Trump.
The former president was charged by Willis on August 14 for allegedly breaking the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, several counts of conspiracy, making false statements, and more for allegedly meddling in the state’s election, according to a previous article from The Daily Caller.
The letter also questioned if Trump’s indictment by Willis was politically motivated, citing several events that preceded the charge. The letter refers to a brand-new campaign website that Willis used to promote her probe into the former president and that was built just days before charges were filed.
“News outlets have reported that your office and Mr. Smith ‘interviewed many of the same witnesses and reviewed much of the same evidence’ in reaching your decision to indict President Trump,” the letter reads. “The House Committee on the Judiciary thus may investigate whether federal law enforcement agencies or officials were involved in your investigation or indictment.”

In addition to Trump, 18 other people—including lawyers Rudy Giuliani and John Eastman, a former Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows, and others—were charged with election-related crimes.
When contacted for comment by the Daily Caller News Foundation, Willis did not respond.
