SCHOFIELD, WI (WSAU) – This summer, 239 gifted Wisconsin student musicians, including 22 students from D.C. Everest Senior High and a group of kids from North Central Wisconsin’s Auburndale, Lakeland, and Minocqua, traveled throughout Europe as Wisconsin Ambassadors of Music.
According to a press release, the students were chosen from a pool of nominees put forth by their teachers based on their musical aptitude and extracurricular involvement in both their local and school communities.
The Wisconsin Ambassadors of Music Band and Choir interacted with residents and tourists through the common language of music while performing in five different nations. Crowds in London, England; Paris, France; Crans-Montana, Switzerland; Rothenburg, Germany; and Salzburg, Austria came to see the students perform.
The opportunity for kids to learn about and experience different cultures is a significant aspect of the trip. While traveling Europe, the students sampled local cuisines, saw historic architecture, practiced their foreign language abilities, and were immersed in the diverse cultures of each country.
