WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — A 64-year-old man will serve life in prison after pleading guilty to ten counts in Wood County.
According to a news release from the Sheriff’s Department Brian McDowell entered the plea on August 18th. A judge then sentenced him to ten consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole.
The most serious crimes were sexual assault with a person under the age of 12 and repeated sexual assault of the same child, both class B felonies. Other charges against him included possession of child pornography and making a child under the age of 13 watch or listen to a sex act.
Officers arrested McDowell for those charges in May.
All of the charges against him carried a repeat modifier for a 1992 incident in which McDowell was found guilty of sexually assaulting a child. His sentence included prison time and a lifetime spot on the state’s sex offender registry.
McDowell is also facing two federal counts for producing child pornography that were filed back in July. That case remains open.
