STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — A burn ban is in effect in Stevens Point.
According to Fire Prevention Chief Terrance Skinner a combination of dry conditions and high temperatures forecasted for this weekend have led authorities to put a ban on burning. No burn permits will be issued, and residents are asked to avoid all burning until at least Tuesday, September 5th.

Most of Wisconsin is under a high fire danger including all areas south of Marathon County. The rest of the state is under a moderate fire danger.
