WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A man known as “Pastor Ray” has been sentenced to life in prison for repeated sexual assault of the same child after he was found guilty at trial this summer.
Court records show Delfino Figueroa was sentenced on Tuesday by Judge Scott Corbett. The 54-year-old was already on the state’s sex offender registry when he was introduced to the victim in 2014 during his time at the Song Neulife Gospel Oasis, which is now closed. Figueroa would visit her home to spend time with her father, who had experienced medical complications.
The victim added that she and her friends also held sleepovers at Figueroa’s home.
Investigators say the abuse continued for years. The victim came forward in 2022 after her 18th birthday.
Court records show Figueroa, who is also known as Delfino O’Day-Figueroa, was first placed on the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry in the mid-90s. Additionally, he was found guilty of misdemeanor sexual assault in 2007 and four misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct with a domestic abuse modifier in 2010.
Charges against him carried a persistent repeater modifier, which put the life sentence on the table. Figueroa was immediately turned over to the state prison system for processing after Tuesday’s hearing.
