GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Packers had their first official practice of the season, and their top two wide receivers did not participate, potentially putting their status for week 1 in jeopardy.
Both Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs did not practice on Wednesday due to hamstring injuries, and head coach Matt LaFleur spoke after practice about their absence, saying, “We’ll give them the whole week and we’ll see where they’re at.”
Doubs missed the Packers final preseason game against Seattle due to a hamstring injury, and it appears that his status since then has not changed much.
If neither was able to play on Sunday, Love’s only veteran target would become Samori Toure, with 112 career snaps played. Rookies Malik Heath, Dontayvion Wicks, Jayden Reed, and Luke Musgrave would immediately be put into the spotlight on the road in Chicago against a Bears defense that is expected to have improved since last season.
