GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers have announced that they will be without their top wide receiver on Sunday.
Christian Watson has been dealing with a hamstring injury throughout the week and did not practice with the team on Friday.
According to USA Today’s Ryan Wood, head coach Matt Lafleur spoke after practice about being without Watson on Sunday, saying, “We had a whole week to prepare for this. So I wouldn’t say that alters the plan too drastically. Anytime you’re missing one of your better players, that throws a curveball a little bit. But it happens all the time.”
Lafleur also announced that Romeo Doubs is officially questionable and that star left tackle David Bakhtiari will indeed be ready to go for Sunday’s game in Chicago.
The Packers were 1-4 in 2022 games where Watson either didn’t participate or played less than 25% of the offensive snaps. In the four losses, the Packers scored 14.2 points on average per game.
Green Bay will now be expected to rely heavily on rookies Luke Musgrave, Jayden Reed, and Malik Heath, and fans are likely to see a lot of Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon due to the Bears starting this season with a young and still-developing defensive line.
