WOOD COUNTY, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – After reportedly seeking the assistance of another inmate in a scheme to kill many Wood County jail officers, an Arpin man is facing felony charges for solicitation of first degree intentional homicide.
According to court filings, an anonymous inmate approached employees at the Wood County Jail in Wisconsin Rapids saying another inmate, Jesse Hansen Schumann, said he wanted to kill at least two corrections officers.
The inmate said Hansen Schumann didn’t like the guards because they had previously held him accountable for disciplinary infractions he committed in jail. His alleged plan was to jump the guards while they were standing in a security camera blind spot.
The inmate stated that he had nothing to do with it and wished to avoid blame if anything did occur, which prompted him to inform police officials.
According to court documents, Hansen Schumann promised to kill the inmate’s ex-wife in exchange for his help and stated that Schumann allegedly planned to jump one or both guards in a camera’s blind zone.
Hansen Schumann was given a $100,000 bond and remains in custody. If found guilty he faces up to 36 years in prison.
