Milwaukee Brewers
(Bronx, NY) — The Yankees needed extra innings to salvage their series finale against the Brewers. New York topped Milwaukee 4-3 in 13 innings on Sunday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.
Corbin Burnes pitched eight hitless innings for Milwaukee but Gerrit Cole kept the Brewers off the scoreboard as well.
The game was 0-0 into the 11th when Milwaukee got an RBI single from Tyrone Taylor. New York tied the game and ended the no-hitter in their half of the 11th. Milwaukee then got RBIs from Joey Wiemer and Andrew Monasterio in the 12th to take a 3-1 lead. Giancarlo Stanton tied the game for the Yankees with a two-run homer off Andrew Chafin. The Yankees then won it in the 13th on a double from Kyle Higashioka off Hoby Milner.
Burnes retired the first 12 batters he faced and a fifth inning walk was the only blemish. He left after eight innings at 109 pitches and a slightly sprained ankle.
Milwaukee is still leading the NL Central at 79-and-63 and will host the Marlins tonight. Pre game show at 6:05 on WSAU.
