The city of Marshfield is considering a ban on the practice of declawing cats.
Residents will be allowed to weigh in on the matter during a special public input session scheduled for Tuesday’s City Council meeting at 6 PM. Participants will have up to five minutes to give their input on the issues.
The issue has been kicked around in the city since mid-June. The City Council heard a presentation in July by Jennifer Conrad of the Paw Project, and the council digested a public survey in August.
That survey showed 83 percent of residents feel declawing cats is inhumane and 84% feel veterinarians should be banned from performing the procedure.

Those who want to provide public comment as part of Tuesday’s meeting should sign up at least 5 minutes before the start of the meeting. Public comments can also be emailed to marshfieldcatdeclawing@publicinput.com or dropped off at City Hall on Tuesday.
