WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – A downtown Jimmy John’s and a new coffee shop planned later this year are just two examples of the vacant shops in Wausau that are filling up and reviving the River District.
According to a news statement from Wausau River District Executive Director Blake Opal-Wahoske, the Third Street Lifestyle Center, operated by Compass Properties, is welcoming three new businesses, including Jimmy John’s, Forward Beverage, and a new coffee shop to be announced in October.
Jimmy John’s will begin remodeling the location on Washington Street in Washington Square and will open later this year. In addition, a new coffee shop is refurbishing the former Ugly Mug in Washington Square and plans to launch in October. Forward Beverage Company will be located directly across the street.
“Forward Beverage Co. is Wausau’s very own nonalcoholic cocktail company,” owner Amy Yanzer said in the release. “We sell our original social seltzers and soft cocktails from our taproom at 303 N 3rd Street and will distribute kegs and cans of our products to restaurants and businesses in the coming weeks and months.”
Object Homewares, 314 Scott Street, opened on August 12. Object Homewares provides a wide range of products for a purposeful house. The Vitality Bar, located at 501 Third Street, will debut later this fall and will provide therapies such as whole-body cryotherapy, localized cryotherapy, infrared saunas, Botox, IV therapy, compression boots, and red-light therapy.
