WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – A former substitute teacher for the Wausau School District who is accused of two counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor is about to start a three-day jury trial.
28-year-old Zachary Robins showed up in Marathon County Court on Tuesday with his counsel for the last pre-trial meeting between the prosecution and defense.
Between February 27 and October 15, 2019, Robins worked in the Wausau School District on over a dozen different occasions. Dr. Keith Hilts, the Wausau School District’s superintendent, reported that Robins had filled in for nine schools in 2019 for a total of 10 full days and seven half days.
According to court records, on October 15, Robins allegedly inappropriately touched two students at Riverview Elementary School. The principal reported the event to the school resource officer on October 16 after receiving a report from a parent the same day.
The trial is set to take place from September 19 to 21.
