Madison, WI (WSAU)– It was a great day for some Wisconsin Badgers Football. Tanner Mordecia ran for 2 touchdowns, alongside Braelon Allen who added 2 more. This helped earn the win over Georgia Southern 35-14 on Saturday.
Mordecai had 19 of 30 for 236 passing yards. He had a touchdown run of 1 and 18 yards in their first meeting against the Eagles. He had 7 carries for 36 yards and 2 touchdowns. Braelon Allen finished with 12 carries for 94 yards along with 2 scores. Chez Mellusi had 15 carries for 61 yards and a touchdown for the Badgers as well.
Wisconsin had only 46 rushing yards in the game’s first half. Allen who was absent for most of the half had 17 yards on 4 carries in in the 2nd quarter.
The quarterback for Georgia, Davis Brin threw 2 touchdowns. Brin was 33 of 52 for 383 y with 2 touchdowns and 5 interceptions in the 3 quarters he played. Brin ended up fumbling a snap in the 4th quarter which gave the Eagles their 6th game turnover. Mordecai put points on the board by pulling down a high snap as he ran a yard for the touchdown at 14 minutes and 18 seconds of the 2nd quarter. The Eagles tied the game at 7 less than 2 minutes later on a 4-yard touchdown.
Wisconsin had 3 interceptions in the 1st half but could not capitalize on scoring. Georgia Southern’s Chase Folser missed a 48-yard field go attempt with 2 seconds left on the clock before the end of the first half.
In the 3rd quarter the Eagles took a brief lead when Jjay McAfee caught a 25-yard touchdown. Allen responded with a 4-yard touchdown, tying the game up.
Saturday September 22nd, Wisconsin travels to West LaFayette, Indiana to open the Big Ten season on the road, against Perdue. Kickoff is set for 6 P.M CT on FS1.
