WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — An 18-year-old wanted in connection with a shooting incident in Wausau was arrested in Racine last week.
Nicholas Multani was named a person of interest in a shooting incident on 3rd Avenue in Wausau back on July 23rd. Officers say there was an argument outside the home that ended when someone pulled a gun and fired shots toward the building. No one was injured in the incident, but officers did find evidence of a shooting and immediately named Multani as a person of interest.
There was no sign of him until last Friday, September 15th when police in Racine responded to a well-being check on a vehicle that had two people passed out inside of it. One of those men was identified as Multani, who was arrested on local charges along with an outstanding warrant from Marathon County.
Wausau Police are recommending charges including recklessly endangering safety, endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under 18.
The 18-year-old is jailed in Racine awaiting extradition to Wausau. A date and time for an initial court appearance has not been set.
He was 17 at the time of the shooting in Wausau.
Court records show he is facing charges of obstructing an officer in Racine County. He made an initial appearance on Monday but did not enter a plea. Further court action in that case was scheduled for December 4th.
