GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers may have lost on the road in Atlanta on Sunday, but that isn’t stopping them from moving up in the power rankings.
According to USA Today’s Nate Davis, the Packers are moving up three spots from 15 to 12 this week after a solid performance that led to a double-digit Packers lead before collapsing late.
“They were two points away from the franchise’s first ever 2-0 start on the road. And considering the absences of WR Christian Watson, RB Aaron Jones, LT David Bakhtiari, and (mostly) G Elgton Jenkins on Sunday, there are plenty of reasons for optimism, especially if QB Jordan Love can execute a sneak properly moving forward,” Davis wrote.
The Packers’ next opponent, the New Orleans Saints, moved up four spots themselves to number 8 after a solid victory on Monday night over Carolina. “The defense looks to be in midseason form, having held 10 consecutive opponents to 20 points or fewer. The offense does not, but QB Derek Carr is still acclimating and awaiting Alvin Kamara’s return, which could be key given New Orleans’ depleted running back room,” Davis stated.
The other NFC North teams all dropped in the rankings following their Week 2 losses. The Detroit Lions dropped four spots this week from five to nine, the Vikings dropped one spot from 23 to 24, and the Chicago Bears fell four spots from 27 to 31 after a second straight underwhelming performance from Justin Fields.
