The full Marathon County Board of Supervisors will consider sending a resolution to the state against any potential COVID-19-related restrictions from the Department of Health Services or other entities.
The measure was the subject of heated debate and public input a the committee level two weeks ago, where Supervisors passed it on a voice vote with one nay.
The resolution, which is included in Thursday’s agenda packet, cites state statute that allows individuals to refuse vaccination during a public health emergency and also contains language that questions the efficiency of masks.
Another sentence says that the board “finds it is essential [to] express its position that, unless required by law, Marathon County residents should not have their civil liberties jeopardized by mandates pertaining to face coverings or masking, vaccine requirements, or forced isolation, and should be free to make their own choices regarding whether to, and where to, utilize face coverings, vaccinate, or isolate.”
If passed the resolution would be sent to the State DHS and local legislators.
Thursday’s meeting begins at 7 PM at the County Courthouse and will be live-streamed. Public comment is part of the agenda.
