GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers are getting some good news on the injury front as they prepare to take on the Detroit Lions on Thursday.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, starting wide receiver Christian Watson and running back Aaron Jones are expected to return from hamstring injuries and play, but star cornerback Jaire Alexander looks like a long shot to go.
Pelissero further noted that Watson and Jones are expected to be on a pitch count but did not state how many reps they’re expected to see.
Head coach Matt LaFleur said on Tuesday that the team is going to be cautious with Aaron Jones, saying, “I don’t want to sacrifice one game for a longer period of time.” “Until he’s cleared, we all want him out there. We know how valuable he is to our football team in so many aspects, but we want to make sure he’s able to protect himself and not be at further risk of injury,” LaFleur said.
When asked what factors Watson was looking for to determine when he would be ready to play this season, he said, “There was no date for me. As soon as I felt I could be Christian Watson, I was going to go out there whenever I was ready.”
The Packers will play in Green Bay to take on the Lions (2-1) on Thursday Night Football at 7:15 p.m. on Amazon Prime Video.
