ST CHARLES, MO (WSAU) — The Wisconsin Women’s Hockey team opened the season with a pair of wins over Lindenwood University of Missouri 6-0 and 16-1.
Lacey Eden scored a pair of goals in Thursday’s shutout win over the Lions. Jane Gervais made five saves to ear the win in net. Then on Friday the Badgers set or matched a pair of records including the most goals scored in a period with 7 in the 3rd en route to a 15-goal win.
Cassie Hall scored four goals on just six shots in the win. Eden and Sophie Helgeson each scored three goals as well. Ava Murphy and Anna Wilgren each recorded four assists.
Ava McNaughton made 16 saves to earn her first win in what was also her first start in net for the Badgers.
Wisconsin, ranked #1 in the women’s college hockey preseason top 20, will play their first home series next Thursday and Friday against Boston College.
