MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers have announced their 26-man playoff roster, which includes a few surprise moves.
Starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff and outfielder Garrett Mitchell were both left off the roster as they continue to recover from injuries. Milwaukee will instead look too young players such as Joey Wiemer, Blake Perkins, and Owen Miller to potentially contribute during the Wild Card series.

The Brewers have not officially announced who will start game two, but many expect that it will be Freddy Peralta, and if game three is needed, the team is expected to turn to Wade Miley and their bullpen to finish out the series.
Other notable players left off the roster include first baseman Rowdy Tellez, starting pitcher Adrian Houser, and former Diamondback reliever Andrew Chafin. Houser pitched five innings on Sunday, so he would not have been ready to go this week, and Chafin appears to be left off due to his poor performance since being acquired. Chafin has a home ERA of 5.86 and has given up 18 earned runs in 27.2 innings pitched at American Family Field this season.
Tellez has struggled this season, batting just.215 and hitting only 13 home runs. He also struggled against Arizona during the regular season, getting only one hit in 17 at-bats in six games played.
According to Bleacher Report’s Joe Tansey, Milwaukee’s greatest chance of winning is for its starter to pitch six or seven innings, then turn the ball over to the setup guys, who will then close out the game in the ninth. That formula can be polished against an Arizona offense that has scored only three runs in its last four games, all of which were losses.
