WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – This winter, depending on the method you use to heat your home, it might be a little less expensive.
The National Energy Assistance Directors Association (NEADA) predicts that the price of natural gas will drop by around 8% this year.
“We do expect that our customers will pay less to heat their homes this winter natural gas prices have returned to pre-pandemic levels,” Matt Cullen, spokesman for Wisconsin Public Service told WAOW. “We also are seeing natural gas prices that are expected to remain stable throughout this winter heating season.”
Around 70% of Wisconsin residents heat their houses with natural gas, according to Wisconsin Public Radio.
While the majority of consumers will experience a decrease in their monthly bill, NEADA predicts that those who use electricity, gas, or heating oil will pay more this year.
The U.S. Department of Energy says using a heavy-duty, clear plastic sheet on a frame or tape clear plastic film to the inside of window frames during the cold winter months. Make sure the plastic is sealed tightly to the frame to help reduce infiltration.
