WAUSAU, Wis. (WAOW-WSAU) — A 41-year-old Rusk County man is in custody after a multi-county chase Friday evening.
A press release from the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department says they got a call around 8:44pm Friday evening from a person driving northbound on US 51 near Maine.
That driver said they and their vehicle had been shot.
Several more 911 calls soon followed, and Lincoln County first responders were able to safely get to the victim and take them to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Bennie Green of Tony, WI, was spotted in Lincoln County and fled from Sheriff’s Deputies as they tried to approach.
Green drove back into Marathon County, where the Wausau Police Department tried to use spike strips to deflate his tires. Green was able to avoid them.
A Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy finally brought the chase to an end when they rammed Green’s car with their cruiser within the City of Wausau. The Deputy was injured in the crash, but the injuries were not serious.
Green was taken into custody. He’s currently facing multiple felonies including Attempted Homicide.
