MADISON, WI (WSAU) – Wisconsin state legislators will introduce a resolution on Wednesday evening that would condemn the Hamas terrorist attacks against Israel over the weekend.
Speaker Robin Vos and Rep. Lisa Subeck released a brief statement on the resolution: “On October 7th, 2023, Hamas, a United States-designated foreign terrorist organization, attacked Israel without provocation. This resolution condemns this heinous attack and affirms that Wisconsin stands with the people of Israel in the face of terror.”
This resolution follows a pro-Palestine rally at UW-Madison on Wednesday morning where students chanted phrases such as “glory to martyrs”, which is a reference to Hamas terrorists who have died during the attacks on Israel and during Israeli airstrikes on Hamas military hideouts in Gaza. The student group states that they would like to see the “full decolonization of Palestine,” which parrots the anti-Semitic phrase “from the river to the sea,” which terrorist groups like Hamas chant when speaking of the destruction of the Jewish state.

Wisconsin Senator’s Tammy Baldwin and Ron Johnson have joined calls to re-freeze the $6 billion in Iran funds following the terrorist attacks.
“Until I have full confidence that Iran did not play a role in these barbaric terrorist attacks on the Israeli people, the United States should freeze the $6 billion dollars in Iranian assets,” Baldwin said in a press release.
According to a Hamas official, the group received help from Iran for the attack. The Wall Street Journal confirmed this report along with the Washington Post on Monday night that Iran had a “key” involvement in the events leading up to the strike. According to current and former Western and Middle Eastern intelligence officials, “the Palestinian militants behind the surprise weekend attack on Israel began planning the assault at least a year ago, with key support from Iranian allies who provided military training and logistical assistance, as well as tens of millions of dollars for weapons.”
