WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – The Good News Project will be allowing central Wisconsin residents to recycle some of their old and out-of-date electronics this weekend.
On Friday and Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Good News Project will accept small and large electronics to be recycled for $0.45 per pound at the Wausau office located at 1106 5th Street.
Good News Project Executive Director Christine Daniels says she is expecting around 300 residents to drop off their e-waste throughout the weekend.
International E-Waste Day aims to highlight the growing issue of electronic waste and promote responsible e-waste management. According to the UN, 61.3 million metric tons of electronic waste will be discarded this year alone—more than the weight of the Great Wall of China. Only 17.4 percent of that waste, which contains a combination of hazardous compounds and valuable materials, will be appropriately collected, handled, and recycled globally.
