Fond Du Lac, WI (WSAU)– A shooting in Fond du Lac involving a county sheriff’s deputy, led to the death of a man Saturday morning.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice’s Division of Criminal Investigation, (DCI), said in a release that officers from the Fond du Lac Police Department and deputies from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance just before 6 AM, Saturday morning. They went on to say they found a man inside a vehicle, and the man and a sheriff’s deputy began shooting at one another.
The man was fatally wounded and died at the scene. The DCI said a K-9 unit was also wounded during the shooting. The dog is receiving “critical care” at a veterinarian hospital. The involved deputy was wearing a body camera, and there was also a dash cam. The deputy is on administrative leave.
The DCI is leading the investigation, which is still ongoing.
