WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The trial for an Abbotsford man accused of stabbing someone outside a tavern in Unity last winter has been reset.
Leovigildo Cruz Hernandez has canceled his request for a speedy trial. The state did not take a stance on the issue, and the judge granted the request.
The 18-year-old faces one count of attempted intentional homicide using a dangerous weapon. Investigators say he stabbed another man outside Perla’s Place Bar in Unity.
According to the victim, he and Hernandez knew each other because they came from the same town in Mexico. The victim said he had borrowed $600 from Hernandez in the last year and still had about $50 to pay back from the loan.
