ARLINGTON, TX (WSAU) — The Houston Astros picked up a crucial win in the American League Championship Series. Houston now trails the ALCS 2-1 after downing the Texas Rangers 8-5 in Game Three at Globe Life Field.
The Astros scored three runs in the second inning and never looked back on the way to the win. Houston starter Cristian Javier earned the win on the mound after letting up two runs through five-and-two-thirds innings of work. Jose Altuve belted his second home run of the postseason on a solo shot in the third inning.
Rangers starter Max Scherzer was charged with the loss after he let up five runs through four frames. Josh Jung hit two home runs and totaled four RBI in the losing effort.
The series continues with Game Four in Arlington on Thursday night.
