WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The man accused of bringing a gun to the M and R Station in Wausau and then firing a single shot as police were breaking up a fight in the parking lot entered a plea on Monday.
Joseph Slater has pled not guilty to charges including recklessly endangering safety, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and carrying a handgun on a premise that serves alcohol. A judge bound him over for trial as well.
Slater was said to be part of an argument that was taking place in the parking lot of the west-side bar. When officers arrived to break up the fight, they saw Slater holding a gun and ordered him to drop it. The group scattered, and a single shot was heard from the area.
