GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers may be without a couple of key starters for the foreseeable future.
Darnell Savage, a safety, is anticipated to be out for several weeks after aggravating a calf injury on Sunday against the Denver Broncos, according to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky. He may be put on injured reserve by the Packers, which would mean missing a minimum of four games.
The veteran safety was iffy to play entering the week and was injured during a play in the second quarter in Denver. Savage initially suffered the injury during the Packers’ Oct. 9 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.
Meanwhile, star receiver Christian Watson says his knee injury is healing well and that he’s optimistic about playing against the Vikings on Sunday, saying, “Everything looked good on the scans and whatnot. Obviously, I’m just trying to get the initial pain and stuff out of there, and I think I’ll be good to go.”
Watson fell to the sidelines after hobbling off the field. Love then threw the game-ending interception on the next play.
The Packers will also continue work with tight end Luke Musgrave (ankle), defensive lineman Davante Wyatt (knee), and cornerback Eric Stokes (hamstring) throughout the week in hopes they will be ready for Sunday’s noon kickoff against the Minnesota Vikings.
