CONLEY COMMENTARY (WSAU) – The things you say, and write, and post online have a way of living forever.
That should bring a moment of pause for demonstrators who are aligning themselves with Hamas. If you’re a college student, future employers will see what you’ve posted. They’ll see which campus groups you’re a member of, and the policies of those groups. Aligning yourself with blood-thirty terrorists may not be good for your job prospects.
High school students who walked out of class last Wednesday are aligning themselves with murderers. They are breathtakingly ignorant.
Here’s a brief history lesson: Israel left Gaza in 2005, allowing the Palestinians living there to govern themselves. After a few years, they voted against the corrupt Fatah party and voted for a slate of Hamas candidates. So when you hear the Biden White House say that Hamas doesn’t represent most Palestinians, that’s not true. Palestinians, when given a chance to pick their own leaders, chose Hamas. For those who claim Gaza is an open-air prison, ask Egypt why they won’t allow Palestinians to cross into their territory. Or why Palestinians in the West Bank are blocked from living in Jordan or Syria. It’s a desire to use people as leverage.
October 7th was supposed to be an unremarkable day in Israel, until Hamas terrorists came across the boarder through tunnels, by sea, and with paragliders. Imagine students if your next trip to Lallapaloosa in Chicago was uninterrupted by semi-automatic gunfire with some of your friends killed or carried away. Now is a time for choosing. Why are you on the side of the beheaders, the rapists, the baby killers, and the hostage takers?
Why is your hatred of the Jews so intense that you align yourself with those who are drenched in the blood of innocents?
