GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – Not everything about the Jordan Love experiment in Green Bay has gone according to plan.
With only one season left on Love’s deal, general manager Brian Gutekunst is aware that the organization’s decision to commit to the former first-round choice, in the long run, will be made in the coming weeks.
“I think we’ve got 10 games left. These are going to be very important 10 games,” Gutekunst said Wednesday during his annual mid-season press conference.
The first-year starter for the Packers has had a difficult time stepping into Aaron Rodgers’ enormous shoes, leading the team to a 2-5 record and currently third place in the NFC North.
“There will be time for that,” said Gutekunst about the decision that lies ahead for the Packers about Love’s future. “I think right now we are worried about beating the Rams. That’s the most important thing. We have a lot of faith in Jordan. We’ve got to get the offense playing better, and when that does, those things will take care of themselves.”
The 2024 NFL Draft is expected to have a loaded quarterback class featuring college stars such as North Carolina’s Drake Maye, USC’s Caleb Williams, Washington’s Michael Penix Jr., Texas’s Quinn Ewers, Oregon’s Bo Nix, and Michigan’s JJ McCarthy if the Packers were to decide to draft a quarterback in the first round.
